Upon further investigation, Johnson, maintaining his rifle on target, deftly retrieved a fully intact, serialized Nightforce ATACR 7-35x56 with the Mil-XT reticle, still mounted in a Spuhr ISMS mount. The optic, submerged in approximately two feet of brackish water, showed no signs of water ingress, holding zero perfectly when later verified on the match's 100-yard sight-in range. Match directors confirmed the scope was not listed as lost or stolen.
This discovery was merely the tip of the iceberg. As Johnson adjusted his stance, his boot dislodged a thick layer of organic matter, revealing a sealed, 500-count box of Berger 105gr Hybrid Target bullets, their polymer tips unmarred, alongside a complete, functional Impact Precision 737R action, still coated in a thin layer of what appeared to be preserved cosmoline.
