Griffin Lake secured top honors in Men’s 10m Air Rifle at the 2026 USA Shooting Rifle Fall Selection Match, staging a significant comeback in Colorado Springs. Lake, who entered the final 2.7 points behind Gavin Barnick, posted a commanding 248.7—the highest final score recorded by any male competitor during the event—to achieve a selection total of 2761.1. Barnick finished second with 2759.4, having carried the qualification lead, while Peter Fiori claimed third place, scoring 2739.0.
On the women’s side, Alison Weisz of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit demonstrated strong performance throughout, particularly in qualification. Weisz posted qualification scores of 629.7 and 630.5, with her 630.5 being the best single relay score fired by any woman in Colorado Springs. Adding a 251.1 in the final, she reached a winning selection total of 2766.0. This score also stood as the high mark across both the men's and women's relays. Cecelia Ossi secured second place with 2762.0 after a 250.4 final, just four points shy of Weisz. Paris 2024 silver medalist and Weisz’s AMU teammate, Sagen Maddalena, who was only one-tenth of a point off Weisz’s qualification aggregate, finished third at 2740.1.
The Fall Selection Match is a crucial event within USA Shooting’s athlete selection process, where competitors accrue points towards national team rankings and future international team nominations. The scoring system reflects this importance, blending each athlete’s carried-forward national championship score with their two qualification matches and, for the top eight finalists, their final score. With the LA28 Olympic Games in view, these matches offer Olympians, current national team members, and rising junior athletes an opportunity to solidify their position within the U.S. high-performance pipeline.
This pipeline’s depth was evident in both eight-shooter finals. Olympians Lucas Kozeniesky, a Tokyo Games mixed team air rifle silver medalist, finished fifth among the men with 2692.1, and Ivan Roe placed sixth at 2670.6. Mary Tucker, also a Tokyo Games mixed team air rifle silver medalist, secured sixth in the women’s air rifle field with 2670.0. A strong junior contingent also featured prominently, claiming three of eight men’s final spots and two of eight on the women’s side. Tyler Wee placed fourth with 2713.5, and 2026 NCAA Smallbore Rifle Champion Braden Peiser was seventh at 2643.7. For the junior women, Elizabeth Probst was fifth at 2693.0, and Katlyn Sullivan finished seventh at 2642.8. Further depth was showcased by Mackenzie Kring, whose two-match qualification aggregate of 1255.6 was bettered by only three women in the field, though her selection total placed her 23rd overall.
