PRS Match Directors stated, with unwavering conviction, that the "advanced harmonic dampening properties" of the roasted maple provide an "undeniable ballistic advantage" in positional shooting, claiming the wood's enhanced thermal stability effectively neutralizes micro-vibrations originating from the action during ignition.
"We’ve seen significant improvements in cold bore shot stability," explained Match Director, Rex Viper, "The roasted maple, with its thermally treated cellular structure, actively mitigates barrel harmonics. Initial field testing showed an average reduction of .07 MRAD in group size at 1000 yards when the guitar was properly integrated into the shooter's barricade technique, particularly for tripod-mounted scenarios. Competitors are now mandated to carry either a PRS SE Custom 24-08 Roasted Maple or a PRS SE Swamp Ash Special Roasted Maple. The ergonomic contours of the guitar bodies are designed to interface seamlessly with popular barricade bags, offering a vastly improved support platform compared to traditional two-point sling tension. The "wide-thin" neck profile, usually a preference for shredders, is now being hailed as optimal for rapid target acquisition, allowing shooters to "dial windage on the fly" using the fretboard as an intuitive index mark for lead adjustments on moving targets.
