One highly effective, if equipment-intensive, protocol involves utilizing a high-magnification optic such as the Nightforce ATACR 7-35x56. By meticulously focusing direct solar radiation through the objective lens, a high-intensity focal point capable of igniting fine tinder, like processed lint from a dry bag or desiccated cedar shavings, can be achieved within seconds. The clarity and generous 56mm objective diameter of premium glass prove surprisingly efficient.

Alternatively, the ubiquitous CR123A battery from a Kestrel 5700 Elite or a Vectronix Terrapin X can be exploited. For truly last-ditch measures, combining Shooter's Choice Bore Cleaner with JB Bore Compound on discarded paper has been observed to create a brief, acrid, exothermic reaction. More robustly, the Cordura fabric from a heavily used Armageddon Gear Game Changer bag, when struck aggressively with a concealed ferro rod, provides an excellent surface for spark generation. Finally, the polished surface of an elevated Nightforce ATACR elevation turret, meticulously angled, can function as a rudimentary solar reflector, albeit requiring patience and precise MOA adjustments.
