Taurus has officially introduced its TTX Suppressor Series, marking the company's entry into the suppressor market with a three-model lineup. The series includes the TTX22 for rimfire, the TTX9C for pistol-caliber carbines, and the TTX30 designed for .30-caliber rifles, with prices ranging from $299.99 to $599.99.
Bret Vorhees, president and CEO of Taurus USA, described suppressors as a logical progression for a company with a long history and a diverse product range. He indicated that Taurus partnered with experienced suppressor engineers for the development of the series and stressed that the TTX cans are engineered for use across a wide array of firearms, not exclusively those bearing the Taurus name.
A key distinguishing feature of all three TTX suppressors is their construction. They are made from sintered titanium, utilizing additive manufacturing rather than traditional bar stock machining. This material choice is also cited for keeping weight down, with the smallest model weighing under four ounces. Each suppressor incorporates a monocore design and is finished with a high-temperature Cerakote C-Series coating.
According to Taurus, the design effort extended beyond simple sound reduction. The company states that the internal geometry is specifically engineered to manage gas flow, mitigate recoil impulse, limit back pressure, and maintain a consistent point of impact from shot to shot. The focus on reducing back pressure is particularly relevant for carbine users, where excessive gas can often affect the shooter. Taurus rates each model for up to 30 dB of sound reduction.
The TTX22, the smallest and lowest-priced model at $299.99, measures 5.5 inches in length, 1 inch in diameter, and weighs 3.71 ounces. It mounts on 1/2x28 threads and is rated for .22 LR, .22 WMR, and .17 HMR. Taurus specifically designed this rimfire suppressor with its TX22 pistol in mind.
For pistol-caliber carbines and other fixed-barrel 9mm platforms, the TTX9C is offered at $599.99. This model is a 1/2x28 direct-thread suppressor that forgoes a booster assembly, a design choice optimized for carbine use. It is 7 inches long, 1.5 inches in diameter, and weighs 11.5 ounces. Optimized for 9mm, it also carries ratings for .380 ACP, .32 ACP, and .22 LR, and is presented as a natural pairing for platforms like the Taurus RPC.
Rounding out the series is the TTX30, a .30-caliber rifle suppressor also priced at $599.99. The largest of the three at 7.5 inches long, 1.75 inches in diameter, and 14.31 ounces, it uses a 5/8x24 direct-thread mount. The TTX30 is rated for a broad spectrum of .30-caliber cartridges, from .300 Blackout up to .300 Win. Mag., including .308 Win. and 7.62x39 mm. It is also rated for 6.5 mm Creedmoor. This model is presented as a versatile option for hunters, precision shooters, and general-purpose rifle builds, aligning well with the company’s Expedition bolt-action rifle.
