Dominating a field of international competitors over 15 stages, the U.S. shooters showcased an unparalleled mastery of antique ballistics and an alarming dedication to meticulous, pre-industrial DOPE management.
Conditions at Bisley were unforgiving: density altitudes fluctuated wildly with the North Sea maritime air, demanding constant recalculation for projectiles boasting a G1 BC barely registering above 0.150. Competitors faced a consistent 15-20 MPH crosswind, notoriously difficult to read through the thick, acrid smoke plumes erupting from each discharge. U.S. team members, deploying custom-tuned Sharps and Remington rolling block actions chambered in .45-70 and .50-90, focused on extreme shot-to-shot consistency.
"Our competitive advantage," explained Team Captain Bartholomew "Barty" Flinch, polishing the bore of his meticulously re-sleeved 1874 Sharps, "stemmed from aggressive granular load development and an almost spiritual connection to barrel harmonics.
