782 Custom Gunworks has unveiled the "HUNDO" loading block, a new accessory designed for the discerning handloader, particularly those involved in competitive long-range precision rifle shooting. Developed from extensive personal experience at the reloading bench, the HUNDO aims to provide a robust and versatile solution for managing cartridges during the reloading process.
The genesis of the HUNDO block stems from a desire to overcome perceived limitations in other reloading accessories. The designer, drawing on over two decades of dedicated reloading, began developing custom loading trays in 2016, leading to the refined HUNDO design now available. This iterative development process underscores a commitment to addressing the practical needs of precision shooters.
The HUNDO is machined from US-made 6061 Aluminum, a material known for its strength and durability, ensuring longevity even with frequent use. Its design accommodates 100 rounds, a capacity well-suited for high-volume reloading required by competitive shooters preparing for matches or engaging in extensive load development. The block features a clear coat of Type-3 hard anodizing, which not only provides a "cool grey look" but also enhances surface hardness and resistance to wear and corrosion, crucial for tools used in a demanding reloading environment.
Functionality is central to the HUNDO's design. It incorporates stepped holes capable of holding both .223 and .308 size cartridges. This versatility is particularly valuable for precision rifle competitors who often load a variety of calibers, ranging from 6mm Dasher and 6GT to .223 Remington and .308 Winchester, eliminating the need for multiple, caliber-specific blocks. An additional benefit of the stepped holes is their ability to support most .308 bottleneck cartridges when inverted, a practical feature for critical case preparation steps such as chamfering and deburring.
Further enhancing its utility, the HUNDO includes a powder drain hole centrally located, designed to manage potential spills and facilitate cleanup during powder charging operations. To ensure stability during use, the block is fitted with rubber feet, preventing unwanted sliding or movement on the reloading bench—a small but critical detail for maintaining consistency and preventing accidents.
The designer's confidence in the HUNDO is evident in the assertion that it "will be the last reloading tray you ever need."
