Chad Heckler has secured his second International Precision Rifle Federation (IPRF) World Championship Limited title, connecting on 171 of 200 shots across 20 stages at the 2026 IPRF Centerfire World Championship. Held from September 24-28 at Gravestone Precision Shooting in Lipan, Texas, Heckler’s victory was a cornerstone of an American sweep across all individual division titles, marking a dominant showing for Team USA on home soil.

Heckler, a formidable competitor, bested a strong international field, finishing two impacts ahead of South Africa’s JC Robertson, who secured 169 impacts. Team USA’s Kyle McCormack placed third with 165 impacts, with South Africa’s Willem Van Biljon (164 impacts) and Canada’s Nathan Wiggins (161 impacts) rounding out the top five. Heckler reflected on the intensity of the event, emphasizing the high caliber of the competition, which included experts, professional match winners, and even a Golden Bullet recipient from around the globe.

This win solidifies Heckler’s status, making him a two-time world champion in the Limited division. His first title came at the 2024 IPRF Worlds in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he outpaced Scott Peterson by five points. Heckler described the 2026 championship as the culmination of two years of hard work, underscoring the dedication required to compete at this elite level.

The championship drew shooters from more than 20 countries, all navigating a demanding course of fire comprising 200 rounds at targets ranging from 300 to 1,000 yards. The event adhered to the IPRF’s standardized international rules, ensuring a consistent competitive framework for all participants.

Heckler’s scorecard demonstrated remarkable consistency, showing few vulnerabilities. He managed to clean five stages, including notable designs like Cattle Panel Pan, Concrete Pipes, and Telephone Poles. Further highlighting his precision, he achieved 9-for-10 hits on eight additional stages. His most challenging stage, Big/Small, saw him connect with five of 10 targets, but notably, he never dropped more than three shots on any other stage throughout the match. This high level of impact consistency across diverse stage designs is a testament to disciplined stage planning and execution.

For his championship run, Heckler, a Team Vihtavuori shooter, relied on a meticulously crafted load and rifle system. His ammunition featured Berger’s 185-grain .30-caliber Hybrid Target bullet, paired with Lapua .308 Win. brass and propelled by Vihtavuori N150 powder. His rifle, built out of his own shop, 5x5 Precision, incorporated a Lone Peak Arms action and a Bartlein barrel, housed within an MDT ACC chassis. For optics, Heckler utilized a Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25X 56 mm riflescope, a common choice among top competitors for its robust features and optical clarity.

The U.S. Precision Rifle Association is responsible for selecting the athletes who represent Team USA at the IPRF World Championships. This year's Limited roster saw Heckler compete alongside Kyle McCormack, Austin Orgain, and Joe Thielen, all contributing to the team's strong performance. Heckler expressed immense pride in the team’s overall showing and the strong performance of international competitors, advocating for humility and leading by example in the global precision rifle community. This sentiment reflects the spirit of international sportsmanship that defines such high-stakes competitions.
