On a day characterized by a consistent 8-12 MPH full value wind from the 9 o’clock, a 7,500-foot density altitude, and a challenging mirage, Miller put together a stunning 3.87-inch group, eclipsing his father, Robert Miller's, long-standing 4.12-inch record.
This generational triumph wasn't born of luck. Ethan has pursued this specific challenge for over a decade, methodically refining his ballistic data and rifle system. His setup for this record-breaking attempt was a masterclass in ELR optimization: a custom Defiance Ruckus action bedded into an MPA ESR chassis, paired with a 32-inch Hawk Hill Custom heavy palma contour barrel chambered in .375 CheyTac. Optics were a Nightforce ATACR 7-35x56 with the Mil-XT reticle, held in place by an ARC MBR mount, providing the crystal-clear sight picture needed for such an endeavor.
A crucial component of Miller’s success was his handloaded ammunition. Utilizing Cutting Edge Bullets Lazer 385-grain projectiles, H50BMG powder, and Peterson brass, each round was meticulously prepped, sorted by weight, and seated to precise OAL, ensuring minimal runout.
