The new optic is explicitly designed for close-to-mid-range engagements, targeting a broad utility spectrum encompassing training, self-defense, hunting, competitive shooting, and tactical applications.
Central to the Osight R’s design is a generous 1.10”x0.87” viewing window, paired with advanced multi-coated lenses. This configuration is intended to provide a wide, clear sight picture, facilitating rapid target acquisition and smooth transitions crucial for dynamic shooting scenarios. Users have the flexibility to select from three reticle options: a 2-MOA red dot for precision, a 65-MOA circle for faster acquisition, or a combined dot-and-circle reticle.
The Osight R features 12 brightness settings, with 9 dedicated to daylight conditions and 3 optimized for night vision compatibility. A quick-access NV button allows for rapid switching between modes. To conserve power, the optic incorporates an automatic shut-off feature after three minutes of inactivity, reactivating upon detecting even slight movement. When the battery level drops, the reticle provides a triple-flash alert once per minute. Osight reports that the 2-MOA dot, set to brightness level 5, is rated for an impressive 83,000 hours of operation.
Durability is addressed through the Osight R’s construction from 7075-T6 aluminum, contributing to its rugged profile. It carries an IPX8 waterproof rating, ensuring performance in adverse conditions. Further protection for the lenses is provided by a glass fiber reinforced polyamide Protective Lens Cover System. These covers are removable, and the front cover can be interchanged with an included anti-reflective device (ARD) to mitigate glare.
The Osight R utilizes the widely adopted Micro T1/T2 footprint for mounting, enhancing its compatibility with existing hardware. Each unit ships with a lower 1/3 co-witness mount.
