MDT has introduced the new Scope Tube Mount With Adjustable V-Mount, a purpose-built accessory designed to provide attachment points for competitive shooters without necessitating a change to their existing scope rings. This distinct approach offers a new avenue for integrating critical tools into a precision rifle setup.
The mount presents as a separate, two-piece collar system that securely fits around an optic's tube. MDT has released versions compatible with 30mm, 34mm, 35mm, and 36mm scope tubes, accommodating a broad spectrum of popular optics favored in PRS and NRL circuits. It is engineered explicitly as an accessory carrier, not as a replacement for the primary rings securing the scope to the rifle. The design features multiple V-Mount positions and includes a V-Mount-to-Picatinny adapter, providing shooters with flexible attachment options for essential match accessories such as electronic levels, DOPE-card holders, turret magnifiers, and compatible red-dot mounts.
All four versions of the Scope Tube Mount With Adjustable V-Mount are listed at a price point of US$69.99. Each package includes the collar itself, the two-hole Picatinny adapter, and six screws for assembly. MDT also lists specific weights for each version, though those figures have not been detailed.
This new offering expands MDT's accessory ecosystem, distinguishing itself from the company's existing Accessory Scope Ring Caps. Those caps are designed to replace the upper sections of compatible MDT Elite Scope Rings and One-Piece Scope Mounts, providing three accessory positions across their top surfaces. The ring caps are sold as a pair and are currently available in 34mm and 35mm options. The fundamental difference lies in the attachment method: the established cap system integrates directly with specific MDT scope mounts, while the new collar attaches independently to the scope tube itself.
This distinction naturally leads to different target audiences. Shooters already utilizing MDT’s compatible rings and mounts may find the integrated cap system more aligned with their setup. Conversely, competitors who are content with their current, non-MDT scope rings now have a dedicated solution for adding critical accessories without committing to a full ring system overhaul. This allows for greater customization and flexibility across various rifle builds and optic choices.
The launch of the Scope Tube Mount With Adjustable V-Mount aligns with MDT’s growing range of competition-focused accessories, which include devices like the SEND IT Gen2 electronic level and the CRUSH IT stage timer. These compact tools underscore the increasing demand for efficient and organized accessory integration on match rifles, where real estate around the optic is often at a premium. The proliferation of such devices highlights how much equipment now competes for space to deliver immediate, crucial data during a stage.
For prospective buyers, the pertinent consideration is whether this separate collar effectively addresses a genuine space or compatibility challenge within their current setup. Adding another attachment point is most valuable when it provides a superior, more accessible home for an existing accessory. Shooters whose rifles are already equipped with suitable accessory caps might find less immediate reason to adopt an additional component, but for those without such integration, MDT's new offering provides a purpose-built answer to a common match-day dilemma.
