ZeroTech Optics USA has unveiled the Trace X 5-25X 56 mm FFP RMG-H MRAD Illuminated riflescope, positioning it for PRS and NRL Hunter competitors, as well as long-range hunters who prioritize holding over dialing for adjustments.
The core of the Trace X's design for competitive shooting lies in its first focal plane (FFP) reticle. The RMG-H grid is engineered to scale with the image as magnification changes, ensuring that a 1.5-mil wind hold remains precisely 1.5 mils whether the scope is set at 8X or 22X. This FFP functionality eliminates the need to return to a specific magnification setting for accurate subtensions or to perform mental conversions, which can be critical during time-sensitive stage engagements. ZeroTech describes the RMG-H as a precision hunting reticle, offering 0.1- and 0.2-MRAD resolution for making precise windage and elevation holds. Furthermore, at lower magnifications, heavy outer bars and an illuminated center aim to provide a clear focal point for rapid target acquisition, addressing a common challenge where some FFP reticles can appear excessively thin at their lowest power settings.
The Trace X is equipped with turrets that operate in tenths of a milliradian, a standard for precision rifle disciplines. It offers a substantial 34 MRAD of total elevation travel and 17 MRAD of windage adjustment, providing ample range for engaging distant targets. A mechanical zero stop is integrated beneath the elevation turret, allowing shooters to confidently dial up for extended ranges and then return precisely to their zero position without over-rotating the turret.
Optical performance is managed through a 56 mm objective lens featuring fully multi-coated lenses. ZeroTech states that some of the glass elements are German-made Schott glass. The field of view ranges from 24.8 feet at 5X magnification down to 5 feet at 25X, both measured at 100 yards. The side-focus parallax adjustment is capable of focusing from 22 yards to infinity, making it suitable for close-range training sessions, including rimfire applications. Eye relief is stated at 3.82 inches, and the diopter offers adjustment from -3 to +2, secured by a lockring to maintain the user's preferred setting.
The entire optical system is housed within a 34 mm maintube, which is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum. The scope carries an IPX7 rating for ingress protection, signifying its resistance to water. The overall weight of the Trace X 5-25X 56 mm is 31.5 ounces.
Each Trace X riflescope ships with a neoprene scope cover, rubber lens cover, hex keys, a microfiber cloth, and a printed reticle manual, alongside a QR code linking to the full instruction manual. The scope is backed by the company’s Triple-A Lifetime Warranty, which is fully transferable and does not require a receipt for coverage. The riflescope carries a list price of $899, with ZeroTech’s website displaying it at $749 at press time.
